D is DISH

D is DISH
Over the hill and through L.A. to
La Canada we go...

Half the fun is getting there...

We left our respective homes in search of the claimed, "best breakfast in Los Angeles."
Showing up in our selection of Hybrid vehicles, we were hungry and ready for DISH to serve it up. From the sign to the decor to the customers coming and going you can't help but feel at home. We sat down and waited for our fellow "Zupper" clubbers to arrive.

Slowly on this lazy Saturday morning each couple made their way to this country diner at the foot of the La Canada hills, in a sleepy town far away from our own neighborhood's in Los Angeles. Where a Sees candy store was full selling Easter candies, a farmer's market was bustling, sweet little shops lines the streets. This little town could have been anywhere in America, it had a down home feel and DISH fit right in. The hungry "Zuppers" arrived...

The littlest honorary "zupperito" Joaquin.

Joaquin again made his presence known, the days are counting down on that little one being allowed to crash "Zupper". But until he is officially kicked out, he enjoyed being passed from one "Zupper" to the next.

Wait and balance...
                   Perfectly poised!
The menu, so hard to choose from. Perhaps the HOT CAKES: Buttermilk Pancakes, Cornmeal Pancakes, Apple Pancakes, Fresh Banana Pancakes. Or the OMELETTES: Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil, the Havarti Cheese, Asparagus & Tomato, the Brie Cheese & Applewood Bacon or the Bacon Cheeseburger Omelette. Are you hungry yet?! Somehow we narrowed it down to sweet or savory and the orders were made and the chitchat began.

Kevin and Linda involved in an in-depth art convo (surprise-surprise),

Josh was diagramming a new product sales model, "green not
greedy"
(surprise-surprise)
and

Alan was telling Sage about a hotel backing up against a baseball field known for it's "home runs" in the bedroom windows during the games, until an ordinance was passed, no occupation of rooms during games. (A little surprising... Alan)

And then the food arrived... yummmmmmmmmm!

Good food & great friends. Perhaps not the "best breakfast in L.A.", but worth the drive for the adventure and company. It was like a mini vacation, not too far away, but just enough to feel like having had a moment out of town.

DISH has been described as "...It's like an old pair of jeans, it's incredibly comfortable, prices are low, the service is good and the food is just perfect." Merril Shindler, LA Times.

D was darn good!

I will add that DISH is like a worn pair of boots.

Thanks for coming y'all and for reading the blog.
Until next time...

Kevin wanted to wish you a sweet good-bye. See you at E.

  1. Jules and I were talking about which Swiss boarding school to apply Ocean and Remy too. Chris and Aaron were talking about how great Kevin looked in his new flowery shirt. Definitely NOT the best breakfast in LA, but always a fun adventure and wonderful, exhilarating conversation with dear friends. Thanks for the blog Sage, it was hardly mediocre. Bring on E!
